The team
The Chief Data and Analytics Office is responsible for the management and use of data across ASIC as well as the development and execution of ASIC's overall data strategy. The team works collaboratively across the organisation to ensure ASIC can fully exploit all relevant data assets, both internal and external, in achieving the ASIC vision. The team oversees data related activities spanning data sourcing, data infrastructure, reporting, data science/analytics and data governance.

The role
As a Data Steward, you will be required to undertake activities to maintain and improve the data quality of key data assets and repositories. Specifically, you will:

Support the development and implementation of frameworks, approaches and procedures for ASIC's Enterprise Technology/ Data Architectures, Data Management, Data Quality and Big Data Platform

  • Develop data policies, standards and processes to support the Data Governance Framework and promote/implement adoption of these across ASIC business teams and knowledge sharing with the team as well as data users to improve overall data management capability across ASIC
  • Provide support in the developing of data platform solutions
  • Support data projects and initiatives both within ASIC and with partner agencies by providing SME consulting and data profiling/testing services
  • Track data quality (e.g. completeness, accuracy, appropriateness) for ASIC's key data assets
  • Initiate and resolve root cause analyses of issues with ASIC's key data assets
  • Be involved in the development of database queries, ETL processes/pipelines and/or analyse data models/infrastructure and assist in the testing of ETL data solutions developed by application developers and data engineers

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, engineering, data management or related discipline
  • Experience in data management roles related to Big Data, Data Warehousing Analytics and/or Business Intelligence
  • Experience coding in SQL (or equivalent) to extract, manipulate and/or analyse data
  • Technical skills and knowledge in some of the follow disciplines: Database design, Data Modelling, ETL, MDM, Database warehousing architecture, Big Data Architecture, Data Streaming, Data Virtualisation
  • Previous exposure to and knowledge of traditional Data Warehousing (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, etc) and Big Data Technologies and approaches (AWS, Azure, NoSQL Databases, Python, Spark, etc)
  • Familiarity with solutions for Business Intelligence (Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau, etc) and Analytics (Python, R, SAS, etc) and willingness to further develop these skills
  • Experience of data management and governance practices/methodologies
